Pass the Norwegian Social Studies Test
The Test for Permanent Residence in Norway, Taken in English: 200 Practice Questions with Explanations, 5 Full Mock Tests at the 26 out of 34 Standard, and the Path from Work Permit to Permanent Residence
Ebook. Also on other Apple Books and Google Play Books stores.
Need to pass the social studies test (samfunnskunnskapsprøven) to get permanent residence in Norway, and want to prepare in English? This guide explains what the test covers, how it works and how it fits into the path from a work permit to permanent residence, then lets you practise until the answers come without hesitation.
The real test has 38 questions, of which 34 count, with three answer options each. You have 60 minutes and need 26 correct answers to pass. The 12 chapters follow the three areas of the official curriculum, and the practice questions use the same three-option format, so you train on the facts rather than on a copy of the test.
What is inside:
- 12 short chapters you can read on a phone: how the test works, from work permit to permanent residence, Norway and its languages, how Norway is governed, human rights and equality, family and children, school and learning, working life, pay, tax and NAV, health care, daily life and customs, and a short history
- 3 appendices: key dates and numbers at a glance, Norwegian words used in the book, and a seven-day revision plan with checklists
- 200 original practice questions, every one with the correct answer and a short explanation
- 5 full mock tests of 34 questions, in the book's three-option format, marked at 26 correct to pass
Rules are as in force on 26 October 2026. Where a point could not be confirmed, the book says so and tells you to check the current position with the immigration authority.
All questions are original. This is an independent study guide: it is not produced, endorsed or approved by any authority or test organisation, and it does not contain real test questions. It does not replace the official curriculum.
Method of creation: this book was written with the help of artificial intelligence tools, under the author's direction; every rule was written from its source text and reviewed and every practice question was written for this book.
